Special Sensor Microwave Imager - SSMI
The SSMI is a passive microwave radiometer flying aboard DMSP spacecraft F10 through  F14. This sensor is used for a variety of environmental products, including Ocean Surface Wind Speeds, Total Precipitable Water, Rain Rates, and Tropical Cyclone reconaissance, among others.
